Agricultural Safety and Health at NIOSH Educational Resource Centers

  • Hudock, S. D.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention awards training grants to universities to develop academic programs in industrial hygiene, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine and occupational safety. The Educational Resource Development Branch of the Division of Training and Manpower Development, NIOSH monitors the grants to assure programmatic progress. Part of this program provides funding for training in agricultural safety and health. Four such grants were awarded in FY93 to: University of California-Berkeley, University of Illinois Chicago, University of Minnesota and University of Utah. These programs are concentrating on agricultural hygiene, continuing education courses and publications, agriculture-related medicine residencies, a Visiting Scholar's program, and academic curriculum in agricultural safety and health. Some of the specific activities each program will be provided in the presentation.

This research abstract was extracted from a portion of the proceedings of "Agricultural Safety and Health: Detection, Prevention and Intervention," a conference presented by the Ohio State University and the Ohio Department of Health, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
